|This iconic book published by Batsford in 1935 is highly valued as a comprehensive reference work on the subjects of pre-WWII motor racing and record breaking. Captain George Edward Thomas Eyston was a racing and land speed record driver and also an accomplished engineer and inventor. His co-author was Barré Lyndon (pseudonym of Alfred Edgar), a playwright and screen writer who was responsible for the screenplay of the 1953 film The War of the Worlds.
