Pearce, Philippa

Ann Philippa Pearce, OBE (1920-2006) began as a civil servant but after a short while moved to the BBC as a writer and producer of schools' radio programmes. She then became an editor of children's books at Oxford University Press and Andre Deutsch. Her best-known work is Tom's Midnight Garden first published in 1958.
