Thomas the Tank Engine, 1st edn 1949 (6th printing) (Rev W V Awdry)This is the second title in the series. It was first published in September 1946 by Edmund Ward with illustrations by Reginald Payne.  This is the sixth impression, issued in February 1949. Note that the front flap was missing from our original, but we have assumed that it was identical to that of the 7th impression issued in May; until this is confirmed we have given the jacket a Version 0 identifier.

This is currently the earliest ReproJacket with "Laurel and Hardy" flaps -- the back flap is almost as wide as the back panel and was used to advertise other books from the publisher. It reverted to match the front flap at some point between 1956 and 1959.
