Abbé, Salomon van

Salomon van Abbé (born Amsterdam, 31 July 1883, died London, 28 February 1955), was an artist, etcher and illustrator of books and magazines; he usually signed as 'abbey'. He had a brother Joseph who also worked as a book illustrator, and whose style and signature were rather similar.

According to Jennings, 1st edn 1954 (Anthony Buckeridge)The sixth title in the series which appeared in 1954.  It was the last in the series to be illustrated by Abbey, who died early the following year.  The next illustrator used was Douglas Mays.
